Jim Baker

In late 1956, Jim Baker joined the staff of KATI just as it was being sold to Ken & Misha Prather.  Jim did a daily program called “JB’s Tunes” from 10 am to 1 pm.
Jim Baker came to Casper from Chicago, where he graduated from DePaul University with a Theater degree.  He was hired by the Casper Tribune which owned Radio Station KVOC at the time.  He was hired there as an announcer.  While there he also participated in numerous plays and on-stage productions at a Little Theater group and the Paradise Valley Players.  In late 1956, Jim Baker joined the staff of KATI just as it was being sold to Ken & Misha Prather.  Jim did a daily program called “JB’s Tunes” from 10 am to 1 pm.  In 1957, Baker also took on additional duties as the nightly news presenter for KTWO Television, which just went on the air from the old Townsend Hotel in downtown Casper.  While it’s thought that Jim continued working for KATI until about 1960, he left the station to work full time for KTWO-TV.  Jim remained at KTWO for the rest of career until his passing in 1983.  He was at K2 for 25-years.
